Welcome to the Davis
Mountains Education Center!
We are a non-profit organization
providing youth and adults, regardless of age, an opportunity to explore and
learn about history, culture, and the outdoors in Texas, New Mexico, and
Northern Mexico. DMEC's offices are located
just outside of Fort Davis, Texas, at a restored historic tourist court on a
ten-acre hillside.
Our mission is to provide the opportunity for participants to
examine environments in an outdoor setting, capturing interests and stimulating
desires to learn more, experience more, and in turn want to do more to be good
stewards of our world.
DMEC has offered Elderhostel programming for
over 15 years and has become one of the most known and respected specialists on
Northern Mexico's Copper Canyon. Safe, comfortable, secure travel into Mexico
with our Copper Canyon Staff assures you of excellent learning and travel
experiences few can compete with.
School and Youth Groups
DMEC offers customized educational programming
to groups of elementary, high school, and college students. The activities at
DMEC are interesting and exciting for youth and are developed as incentives and
motivational tools for better school attendance, better behavior, improved
grades, anti-drug campaigns, and better attitudes. Programs vary from one day
to multi-week offerings.
