Astronomy Education

Picture
McDonald Observatory
Far from city lights and high in the mountains, the night skies in Fort Davis are world-renowned for stargazing. Our lodge boasts a telescope and viewing pad on site. As part of many of our programs, our resident astronomer leads classroom discussions of current events in astronomy, followed by star and planet viewing through our telescopes.

We organize tours of the University of Texas' McDonald Observatory customized for your group. Contact Us to see how we can incorporate world-class astronomy education into your visit to West Texas.

Guided Tours in Copper Canyon, Mexico

El Chepe, bridge in Copper Canyon
Our tours in northern Mexico feature the spectacular Copper Canyon region, Chihuahuan Desert, Baja coast, Davis Mountains, and West Texas hospitality. Travel is by coach and by first-class train, El Chepe, through Copper Canyon.

Note: Because of recent warnings from the U.S. State Department to avoid uneccessary travel in northern Mexico, we have stopped running educational tours in Copper Canyon, Mexico. When the State Department lifts this warning, we will again schedule programs into Copper Canyon, Mexico.

For the latest information and advisories about travel in Mexico, please visit the
U.S. State Department's Web site. And please check back with us for updates!
